![]() Only when we lay down our pride and humbly begin to realize that we are truly weak and start relying on His wisdom and strength, do we learn to overcome the enemy and stop falling to his temptations. We think we have the strength to withstand temptations that God is telling us in His absolute wisdom to avoid. It’s this kind of thinking that causes us to fall to the tricks of the enemy. We always tend to give ourselves more credit then we deserve, we think we are stronger then we really are. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.” – 2 Peter 2:20-22 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. “For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” – Galatians 5:1 It’s a dangerous thing for one who is washed clean to continue to play with those who are still spotted with sin (as the scriptures put it), less the filth still on them rub off on you and you become unclean yet again. However, what the scriptures are referring to here are “ relationships“, such as the romantic kind and also the friendship kind, those people that you hang out with, speak with, and fellowship with on a regular basis. Now there is a fine line to be walked here, because we must still love, help, and minister to all people, the lost most of all. This is why the bible tells us not to be unequally yoked with those who are not serving God. We never pull them up, they always pull us down. We want to help them, we feel bad for them and what they’ve gone through, we want to show them a better way, we want them to become more like us, but always we end up becoming more like them. Most times for the Christian we have the best of intentions when it comes to time spent with those who are not showing the good fruits of the faith. We may not start out like them but the more time we spend with them the more we become like them. We’ve all heard it said, “ you are who you hang out with“. ![]() “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” – Proverbs 13:20 ![]()
